hey guys: hope you're well. just got around to listening to this episode--great fun, as always. loved the lily allen tune at the end. she's had quite a run of it this summer in the UK--she's practically the poster girl for hip London at the moment. while it is true that she built her fan base via my space, being the daughter of keith allen probably didn't hurt her chances in the music industry. her father has been a fixture of somewhat alternative culture in Britain for at least two decades--most notably perhaps as one third of the footie trio, fat les, who recorded a popular world cup anthem in the late '90s (the other members being the artist, damien hirst, and the ever-lovely alex james of blur. keith allen is one of those people who does everything (writing, acting, composing, documentarian, etc.) but doesn't necessarily do any of it well--he's just always *there*.
no matter I suppose since his daughter lily has outclassed him with her debut release which is really good. smile was the first single and was no. 1 here for several weeks, ldn was the second single and went top 10 last month--I like that alfie song that you played. I gave the cd to my 13 y.o. niece when I was last in the states and every time I saw her she kept trying to give it back to me! silly girl.
all the best.
p.s. you're all talkin' too much about jimmy c. on your show and he ain't gonna like that!
