Thank you Patrick for all the great quotes in the feature article on the Feast of Fun podcast in the Chicago Tribune. We really appreciate it and our listeners are thrilled with the article.
But, I think some of your listeners are terribly upset that you weren't the focus of the article.
What can I say? Rex came to us to write a feature on the success of our show and not about gay podcasting in general.
So why all the hate?
More importantly, who posted on the Chicago Tribune sight that Patrick is hung? We add a touch of cl(ass) wherever we go! *ting*!
Marc- Where did you pick up on "all the hate"? I was one of the first commenters to the article and I simply stated "PNS Explosion rules". Because they do. I just re-read all the comments made on the article and the "hate" you seem to be picking up on is that in an article that is undoubtely about you and your show, several commenters state that PNS Explosion is a great show. I have nothing against your show. I didn't say anything about your show. It's presumptive to think that anyone with unkind things to say about your show are simply fans of PNS. As several commenters wrote, people can listen to PNS and FOF and like both.
That's it Noah, just ignore our feelings, makes it that much easier to dehumanize us and therefore easier to hate on.
Gangrene23- that's my take away from some of the comments. You may disagree with me but that's what I got out of it. I think Patrick mislead people when he tweeted "I was so tickled to be included in the SUNDAY section of the Chicago Tribune for a story about gay podcasting" when in fact it was a story about Feast of Fun.
Feast of Who? I kid, I'm just trying to ignore my true feelings.
But seriously, who?
If the article wasn't somewhat geared toward gay podcasting as a whole then why did the Tribune even use Patrick's comments?
They interviewed Patrick because they wanted someone from our field to shed light on the subject matter, which is normal for journalism.
I think I'm kind of in love with Matt Lane... Him and Sailor Moon.
Marc- I certainly can't tell someone how they should feel. If you felt the comments were hateful, that's simply how you felt. I would suggest you look at them again because I don't think they were as bad as you think, but that's only my opinion.
I have two points:
1. Patrick's tweet was completely accurate. To say the article was about Feast of Fun and not gay podcasting is simply mincing words. Believe me, I know all about mincing. The article is undoubtedly about Feast of Fun, but Feast of Fun is a gay podcast. Now if Feast of Fun was a traveling circus, then Patrick's tweet would have been misleading.
2. You still haven't addressed the gross assumption you have made in that you asked on the PNS Explosion site "Why all the hate?" By stating that you think PNS Explosion listeners made negative comments, you are drawing a conclusion saying that the PNS Explosion creators are somehow responsible for the negative comments. If you felt any of the comments made were negative, you should address the individuals who made them and not blame a fellow gay podcast.
The music on the end of the American XXXtacy ad made me feel like Noah did as he watched Schneider blowdry his hammer.
Patrick, I like that you recognized that TV stations wait until 10pm to air certain ads and shows. The industry term for that is "safe harbor".

1. I agree to disagree. Simply reiterating the title of the article or how many listeners you have does not change the content. The article is about Feast of Fun which is a gay podcast.
2. You still have not addressed the fact that by posting "Why all the hate" on the PNS Explosion page you are making an illogial leap and trying to implicate PNS listeners and/or the PNS creators as the commenters who are pissing on your parade. Please elaborate on how you determined that PNS Explosion listeners are responsible for what you perceive are negative comments about the article.

1. "Agree to disagree" does not mean we agree. It means you think one thing and I think something different. The article is about the Feast of Fun gay podcast. It is not about the Feast of Fun law firm or Feast of Fun fast food chicken franchise. When Patrick tweeted he was quoted in an article about gay podcasting, he was simply stating a fact. Why you disagree with this, I do not know.
2. I posed a direct question to you and you are refusing to give a direct answer. How were you able to determine that what you perceived as negative comments made on your article were in any way written by people who listen to PNS Explosion? Patrick informing people of his quotes in an article about gay podcasting is nothing more than passing on information. I'm pretty sure you informed your listeners about the article as well. Patrick asking people to comment on the article is in no way proof that what you perceived as negative comments were the direct result of PNS listeners. So, again, your asking "Why the hate?" on the PNS page is clearly targeting the PNS listeners and PNS creators for upsetting you without you being able to verify that this was actually the case.
As for your last comment, well, I think that's probably angrier and meaner than any comment posted to your article. So I'll ask you, "Why the hate?"

I have been a FOF listener for years and if either of you talk about how your feelings are hurt then I suggest you look into the archives of FOF for all the bashing of other podcasts I've bitten my tongue over.
It was a couple bad comments out of over 30 but your ego boundry is so thin that everyone should feel the wrath, if so then it's time for some therapy and to give back that clam of "the Oprah of gay podcasting" because that girl would not lose her cool over this shit.
Look at an article in the Huffington and count the negative and positive reviews and notice how those authors and subjects of the article remain silent, this is the proper behavior when you are in the paper otherwise you will never get another interview as long as those comments remain and any journalist with a brain will google you so you might be doomed.
Patrick and Noah posted that we go, look and leave a NICE review because.
(1) A gay podcast has finally been shown to the general public again.
(2) Patrick was proud of what he did and wanted to show HIS listeners the contribution.
(3) Maybe they actually like you guys, the past few PNS podcasts have spoken kindly of FOF and wished you well. Not anymore.
But once again the spotlight was taken away from both your egos.
I commented to that article and did note that I was disappointed because I genuinely was. A FOF article can still point out other aspects of the community, all of which helped shape you, and still be about FOF. For a few examples; Richard Bluestein, Dr. Ragan Fox and Bradley Trainer and The Gay Trucker but you clamed credit for gay podcasting when all of the previous mentioned started before FOF and even had you on some of their shows.
You and Fausto can go cry a river over how you lost some attention and attack the PNS MEN all you want, but your attitude has left a bad taste in my mouth and now I know why Ragan, Wanda and Madge hate you both.

I know I'm late to the game, but here are my two cents.
I was the biggest FOF fan in the very beginning of the show. I received a blue t-shirt and headshot stickers of the hosts and guests. My name was mentioned on several of the early episodes, starting 15 Feb 2005. And for reasons that aren't relevant to this discussion I stopped listening.
That is not to say that I hate FOF, it just isn't for me. When FOF is popular that can only mean good things for the rest of the gay podcasting community. I don't begrudge you your success, Marc and Fausto, but I do not understand why you can't let fans of another gay podcast celebrate the fact that a host of a podcast that they listen to receive some attention as well.
You, Marc, have nothing to fear from that article. The first time I read through that article I must have missed Pat's quote, that's how few inches (newspaper term) he got. You got the majority of the article, you got the picture, you got the most publicity out of it.
If anyone is pissing on anyone's parade, it's you onto PNSexplosion's. Not to say that they don't enjoy golden showers but who knows, maybe they just showered and got their hair did.
And there is no way in hell you should be insecure about a podcast whose 407th episode title was "The Three of Us are F*cking Cum Whores."

After having to listen to Marc trash Madge Weinstein on his visit to London (financed by his mommy), I found that I could no longer listen to Feast of Fools (now Feast of Fun...doochey).
That was a few years ago...I made a special trip to London to see the freak...took an afternoon off from work...wish I hadn't. Waste of time...all he did was ask us to promote him and his show...and trash other gay podcasters.

I have a feeling you're still keeping track of these posts, that, surprisingly, are perpetuating a not-too-flattering impression of you.
I took the time to listen to your FOF episode in which you addressed the Trib article and subsequent discussion. Wow. I must tell you that you came across horribly. You seem to want to portray yourself as this "all of us gay podcasters are in the same boat" kind of guy. However, you contradict that mentality with your bitter, opportunistic response, complete with the Oprah/Tyra analogy, which, in any other context, might have been amusing. But in this case, it was just hateful.
I know many people who are (were) FOF fans. Once I showed them this string of messages, they saw you for the self-indulgent dickhead that you are and immediately stopped listening to you. So far, due to my efforts, you have lost four listeners. And I understand that four is a drop in the proverbial bucket of your precious "70,000+," but i hope that, on some level, you are concerned.
